San Juan, Northwestern Mindanao strengthen ties, exchange governance practices

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora on Wednesday, July 1, began a four-day official visit to Northwestern Mindanao to strengthen cooperation among local government units, exchange governance practices, and sign sisterhood agreements.
Zamora arrived in Pagadian, Zamora to sign a sisterhood agreement with Pagadian City Mayor Samuel S. Co.
“Flying to Mindanao today to meet with the Mayors and Governors of Pagadian City, Oroquieta City, Ozamiz City, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Sur! We will be discussing the Local Government Support Fund and the National Classroom Building Program with them and will be signing sisterhood agreements as well,” he said.
On July 2, the mayor is scheduled to travel to Oroquieta to sign a sisterhood agreement with Oroquieta City Mayor Lemuel Meyrick M. Acosta at the Oroquieta Bayfront Arena, with Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal serving as a witness.
He is also scheduled to proceed to Ozamiz to sign another sisterhood agreement with Ozamiz City Mayor Sam Norman Fuentes at the Asenso Ozamiz Session Hall, where Governor Oaminal is also expected to serve as a witness.
On July 3, Zamora will join a multi-LGU Sisterhood Signing at the Kalimudan Multi-Purpose Building in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, together with Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo, Vice Governor Allan J. Lim, Tubod Mayor Dionisio Y. Cabahug Jr., and Lala Mayor Angel L. Yap.
The local government said it aims to further expand San Juan City's growing network of local government partners across the country.
It will be followed by Zamora's courtesy visit to Tangub, one of San Juan City's sister cities, where he is scheduled to meet with Tangub City Mayor Sabiniano S. Canama to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration between the two local government units.
Zamora’s four-day visit will conclude on July 4 with his attendance at the Araw ng Lanao celebration in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, highlighting San Juan City’s support for cultural exchange.
The local government said the visit to Northwestern Mindanao is part of San Juan City's continuing initiative to build partnerships with local government units nationwide in the areas of governance, tourism, investment promotion, education, healthcare, disaster resilience, environmental sustainability, and economic development.
“Through these sisterhood agreements, San Juan City continues to promote the exchange of innovative programs and best practices while strengthening friendship, cooperation, and solidarity among Philippine LGUs,” it said.
