LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The family of Ateneo de Manila University basketball player Rene Clert Baterbonia on Wednesday, July 1, visited Dipaculao, Aurora where he drowned along with teammate Divine Adili during a team-building activity on Monday, June 8.

Kim shared on Facebook by the Municipal Information Office of Talagocon, Agusan del Sur, showed Baterbonia’s parents, Rene Sr. and Rovelyn, along with older brother Rubeyan, looking at the sea where the 2025 Palarong Pambansa boy's basketball MVP drowned. They offered flowers along the shoreline in his memory.
“Ang ginikanan ni Rene Clert ‘Bobet’ Baterbonia mibisita sa baybayon sa Dipaculao, Aurora—ang lugar nga nahimong saksi sa iyang katapusang higayon. Uban sa kasubo ug gugma, ilang gihandom ang mga panghitabo nga dili na gayud mapulihan,” the Talacogon MIO said in a Facebook post.

Baterbonia’s elder brother, Rubeyan, also posted on Facebook photos of the resort in Aurora where he stayed. “Bet naa nami, uli na ta (We are here Bet. Let's go home now),” he said in an encompassing caption.
Photos from the visit touched netizens who hoped they find comfort and strength in the love and memories Baterbonia left behind.
Netizens also prayed for justice for Baterbonia as authorities continue to investigate his death.
