Police confirm stepfather as suspect in Baliwag teen's killing
BALIWAG CITY, Bulacan — Police confirmed that the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 14‑year‑old high school student in Barangay Subic before dawn Monday was the girl’s stepfather.
Mayor Sonia Estrella, who visited the victim’s family, condemned the crime as an attack on the rights and dignity of the youth, stressing that children deserve to live free from violence and abuse.
Authorities said the 37‑year‑old suspect, a former marine and a high school teacher, was arrested after bringing the victim to Baliwag City Hospital along with her mother.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, the girl was declared dead on arrival.
Lt. Col. Eisbon L. Llamansares, Baliwag police chief, said investigators learned the suspect had been living with the victim’s mother as her stepfather. He is now in police custody while charges are being prepared.
Forensic teams have processed the crime scene, and provincial police director Col. Jay B. Baybayan vowed a deeper probe to ensure accountability.
The victim’s mother, also a high school teacher, is cooperating with investigators as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances of the attack.
