'Please dear God just go to the bathroom': Noah Kahan on concert etiquette
Noah Kahan is speaking out against a new and rather disgusting trend among some concertgoers.
Best known for his 2022 hit album "Stick Season," the 29-year-old Vermont-born singer-songwriter took to X to ask fans not to defecate on themselves during shows after a graphic TikTok video showing feces on the ground at one of his concerts went viral.
“If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” Kahan wrote on June 27. “I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29-year-old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000-yard stare after dealing with that.”
The incident comes weeks after Olivia Rodrigo revealed that some fans wear diapers to her concerts and festival appearances.
“I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show. And that’s been an experience as a performer that I have… smelled,” the pop star told UK radio station Kiss FM, to the shock of the hosts. “Everyone is wearing diapers; they sit there all day. I think about it kind of often.”
The practice apparently gained traction during Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour," after some fans claimed they wore adult diapers under their concert outfits to avoid losing their spots near the stage. However, many posts about the trend circulating online appeared to be tongue-in-cheek.
Kahan is currently on "The Great Divide Tour," which kicked off on June 11 and features nearly 60 dates across North America and Europe before wrapping up in Paris this December.
While no Asian dates have been announced, fans across the region, including in the Philippines, remain hopeful that the tour will eventually expand.
