Pateros mayor unveils achievements in first year in office

Pateros Mayor Gerald German marked his first year in office with "Ulat sa Bayan," which highlighted the accomplishments of his administration.
“Maaari pong hindi naging perpekto ang bawat aspeto ngunit ginagawa po natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang maihatid ang mabuting pamamahala para sa lahat (Every aspect may not have been perfect, but we are doing our best to deliver good governance for all),” he said.
He noted that in the past year, his administration implemented programs, projects, and services that provided education, healthcare, peace and order, livelihood opportunities, and efficient public services.
Education
The municipal government, in cooperation with the Department of Education, implemented the Single Shift Policy in all public schools starting this year.
Through an ordinance, the local government launched the first-ever Pateros Educational Assistance Program, which provides P3,000 in educational aid every semester to qualified college students residing in the municipality.
His administration also enforced the Latin Honor Incentives Ordinance and continued scholarship grants to outstanding students through the Pateros Educational Foundation and the Special Science Class of Pateros National High School.
In addition, free GoGo Pateros Wi-Fi access was launched for students and teachers of Pateros Elementary School and Pateros National High School.
Peace and order
German cited the Pateros Police Station for being recognized as Best Police Station for several months by the Southern Police District.
The municipal government also carried out road-clearing operations and the cleaning and rehabilitation of rivers and esteros.
It continues to develop Phase 2 of the Pateros Control and Command Center, which will strengthen the municipality’s capacity to address incidents and manage traffic.
The mayor is also advocating the establishment of the Pateros 24/7 Complaints Action Center to speed up government response to residents’ needs.
Social services and health
German said that every Monday, People’s Day is held, giving residents the opportunity to speak directly with him about their complaints and requests.
The municipal government continues to implement Kadiwa ng Pangulo, including the program offering rice at P20 per kilo, which benefits vulnerable sectors such as senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Infrastructure
In the past year, 180 solar streetlights were installed across Pateros, while the San Roque Day Care Center was renovated.
Among ongoing projects is the Linear Park Development along Barangays San Pedro and Aguho, which will provide additional public space for recreation, health, and environmental protection.
Employment and livelihood
Through cooperation with the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Urban Poor Affairs Office, and the Public Employment Service Office, 50 Pateros residents received livelihood assistance to start or expand their businesses.
The municipal government also strengthened programs in career guidance, employment, livelihood, economic development, job fairs, and student employment.
“Pagpapatuloy. Pagpapabuti. Pagpapaunlad. Ito po ang misyon ng ating administrasyon para sa bawat mamamayan ng Pateros (Continuity. Improvement. Development. This is the mission of our administration for every citizen of Pateros),” German said.
He added that while the municipal government has accomplished much, he still has many dreams for Pateros.
