The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) rally continues in Quezon City on Wednesday, July 1, as participants gather along EDSA-White Plains near the EDSA People Power Monument while authorities maintain security and traffic monitoring.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) initially estimated around 4,000 rallygoers at the site as of 4 a.m., with the crowd estimate remaining at the same level as of 5 a.m.
The gathering, which began on Tuesday, June 30, was organized in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta amid issues involving alleged irregularities in government funds.
Some participants stayed overnight at the rally site, with others remaining in their vehicles and using tents and mats while waiting for the second day of the activity.
Authorities continued monitoring the traffic situation along EDSA and nearby roads as the gathering affected movement in the area.
The Quezon City government allowed the continuation of the rally after organizers secured a permit for the second day of the activity.
Under the permit conditions, the gathering is allowed along White Plains Avenue from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with organizers required to ensure that roads remain passable and public order is maintained.
The QCPD and other concerned agencies continued coordinating security and traffic operations as the rally proceeded.
