LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A knife was discovered from a Grade 11 student of Maryhill College Inc. here recently.
The Catholic school confirmed the incident but denied reports circulating on social media that the knife will be used for an attack in the campus.
“We deeply regret that a bladed weapon found its way onto the school premises, against institutional policy, and notwithstanding rigid security protocols. It has been established, though, that the same was not deliberately used or actually utilized to inflict harm against any person,” Maryhill College said in a statement.
Maryhill College said that an initial fact-finding investigation is complete but an administrative investigation is ongoing to determine the appropriate disciplinary action for those involved in accordance with school policies and Department of Education regulations.
The school urged the public to be responsible in sharing information and not simply believe or spread unverified reports, to protect the students involved and their families while the investigation continues.
Maryhill College affirmed and holds that violence has no place in schools.
