Angelina Jolie on her love life: 'I haven't dated'
Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie (51) reflected on her journey as a mother and an actress more than a decade after her split from Brad Pitt.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Jolie shared how she rediscovered parts of herself that she had lost over the years. She also spoke about her hopes for her daughters, who are now young women.
"My desire for them to have all of the strength and openness and softness and faith and ferocity is reminding me. I think they kind of want me now to not just be 'Mom.' There's a different room for me to be that woman again, that's not just a mom," she said.
The actress also candidly revealed that she is happily single and is not seeing anyone at the moment.
"To be candid, I haven't dated since I divorced a decade ago. So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centered in my life if I'm focusing on my children, my family," Jolie shared.
The interview coincides with Jolie starring as Maxine Walker in Alice Winocour's drama "Couture." The film follows an American filmmaker whose work at Paris Fashion Week is upended by a breast cancer diagnosis, prompting a journey of self-discovery as she reflects on womanhood, ambition, motherhood, and love.
According to Jolie, playing Maxine made her realize that having children doesn't mean giving up the chance to date or find love.
"It took me a second to kind of say, well, she can also love her daughter and be dedicated to her daughter and also need this as a woman and receive this as a woman," she added.
Jolie and Pitt married in 2014 and share six children: twins Vivienne and Knox, 17; daughters Shiloh, 20, and Zahara, 21; and sons Pax, 22, and Maddox, 24.
The "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-stars separated in 2016, leading to years of divorce proceedings that played out in court.
