Two individuals previously linked to separate incidents during the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) rally near the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City have been temporarily released while authorities continue to verify their alleged involvement.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the cases involve a protester accused of punching a police officer and a bus driver allegedly involved in an incident where a policewoman was pinned during the rally along EDSA on Tuesday, June 30.
Investigators noted that the identities and level of participation of the two individuals are still being validated as part of the ongoing probe.
Police Major Jeniffer Gannaban, QCPD Public Information Office chief, said two police officers who sustained injuries during the earlier confrontation remain confined at the Philippine National Police General Hospital for treatment.
She added that the incident was limited to a brief morning scuffle and did not escalate further, while the rest of the day remained generally peaceful.
Authorities described the overall situation as orderly, citing coordination efforts that helped manage crowd movement and security at the rally site.
The INC rally in Quezon City entered its second day on Wednesday, July 1, with organizers expecting up to 100,000 participants.
