A new lipstick may have been the star of YSL Beauty's Lovenude launch at Look At Me, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City, but it wasn't the only takeaway. Celebrity makeup artist Thazzia Falek shared professional techniques that showed how thoughtful placement, strategic blending, and a few simple tricks can instantly elevate any look.

The session also introduced the YSL Lovenude Lip Blusher, the brand's first matte hybrid lip formula. Combining the soft-focus finish of a matte lipstick with the comfort of a balm, the collection features an 84 percent balm base infused with three percent Pro-Xylane to deliver buildable color while helping lips look smoother and naturally fuller. Available in 10 nude shades, the formula can be worn as a sheer tint or layered for more intensity.

As Thazzia demonstrated the different shades on model Lake Cabrias, using them on both the lips and cheeks, she also shared beauty lessons that anyone can easily recreate at home.
1. Skin prep comes first.
Before foundation, blush, or lipstick, healthy-looking makeup begins with skincare. Touche Éclat Blur Primer was applied before the start of the makeup application. "Skin prep is really, really important." Well-moisturized skin allows makeup to blend seamlessly while helping products last longer throughout the day.
2. Brown eyeliner creates a softer smoky eye.
Instead of reaching for black eyeliner, try browns for a more natural definition like Lines Liberated 24h Waterproof Eyeliner in Deconstructed Brown. Applied close to the lashes and blended immediately, brown liner creates depth without looking harsh, making it suitable for both daytime and evening looks.
3. Always blend upward.
One of her biggest rules came while demonstrating the smoky eye. "Whenever you smudge, it has to be upwards." Blending upward creates the illusion of lifted eyes, while dragging product downward can make the eyes appear heavier.
4. Lock eyeliner in place with eyeshadow.
After applying eyeliner, she pressed the darkest shade from the Couture Mini Clutch in Exotic Mirage 310 over it. The eyeshadow softens the edges, deepens the color, and helps lock the liner in place for longer wear.
5. Your fingers can be your best beauty tool.
Not every step requires another brush. Throughout the demonstration, Thazzia frequently used her fingertips to press shimmer onto the eyelids and blend cream products into the skin. The warmth of the fingers helps products melt naturally for a softer finish.
6. Don't be afraid to layer cream over powder.
One of the beauty myths she quickly debunked was avoiding cream products after setting the face. Instead, layering cream products over powder adds dimension while giving skin a fresher, more natural-looking finish.
7. Apply blush in layers for dimension.
Thazzia first swept Make Me Blush 24H Buildable Blurring Powder Blush in 42 Babydoll Pink onto the high points of the cheeks before layering Lovenude Lip Blusher in 44 Nude Lavallière over the same area, blending it inward for a dewy finish. She then applied shade 04 Red Handed to the back of her hand before picking it up with a blush brush and sweeping it onto the outer cheeks for added warmth and definition. She then switched to shade 06 (Naughty Pink), dabbing it onto the back of her hand before using her ring finger to tap the color along the bridge and sides of the nose to recreate a natural sun-kissed flush.
8. Foundation doesn't have to cover everything.
Instead of applying one shade of the All Hours Foundation across the entire face, she strategically brightens only the center with a lighter shade while using a slightly deeper shade around the perimeter to softly sculpt the face. She also avoids applying too much product around the smile lines, helping minimize creasing throughout the day.
9. Use two lip shades instead of lip liner.
Instead of using a separate lip liner, Thazzia used shade 06 (Naughty Pink) to softly outline and slightly overline the lips before applying shade 44 (Nude Lavallière) to the center. Using a lip brush, she blended the two shades together to create a soft ombré effect that made the lips appear naturally fuller, with diffused, blurred edges. To finish, she gently tapped shade 04 (Red Handed) onto the center of the lips with her ring finger, adding a subtle pop of color and extra dimension while tying the lip color in with the softly flushed cheeks.
10. Confidence is the finishing touch.
While new formulas and techniques continue to keep the beauty industry alive, Thazzia reminds everyone that makeup should ultimately be fun and personal. Whether it's pairing a smoky eye with a bold lip, layering cream over powder, or using lipstick beyond the lips, she encouraged guests to experiment and wear what makes them feel confident.
