A 16-year-old boy was apprehended after allegedly stealing a mobile phone and motorcycle from a man playing basketball in San Mateo, Rizal, on June 28.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said that the theft occurred at around 9 p.m. at the Basketball court of Bankers Village, Phase 1 in Barangay Guitnang Bayan 1.
Based on the investigation, the 26-year-old victim left his sling bag, which contained his mobile phone and motorcycle key, on a bench while playing basketball with his friends.
Police said the minor allegedly took the victim's sling bag without being noticed.
After finding the motorcycle key inside, the minor allegedly drove away the victim's motorcycle, which was parked unattended.
After discovering the theft, the victim immediately reported the incident.
Authorities later located and apprehended the minor through the GPS of the stolen mobile phone.
Recovered from the minor were a black Honda Click 125i motorcycle, a sling bag, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and a motorcycle key.
The minor was brought to the San Mateo Municipal Police Station (MPS) for investigation and proper disposition. His parents were also informed of the apprehension.
