Super Junior's Donghae apologizes after collapsing at HK concert
Super Junior member Donghae was quick to reassure worried fans after he briefly collapsed during his solo concert in Hong Kong on June 28.
The 39-year-old K-pop star was in the middle of his performance when he suddenly slumped on stage, unable to get up.
Videos circulating online showed Donghae visibly in pain as his manager and staff rushed to help him off the stage and escort him backstage. The concert was briefly halted, but he later returned and completed the show.
Donghae apologized to the audience, revealing that he has a herniated disc.
Following the concert, Donghae took to Instagram to apologize once again and thank fans for their concern.
"I promise I'll come back healthy. And I promise I'll keep making you smile for the rest of my life," he wrote.
The singer said he had hoped to repay fans' unwavering support through the concert but was unable to perform at his best because of his physical condition.
"I promised you at the opening that we would have fun and happiness, but I couldn't do it. I'm so sorry! Because this is also an album and concert that I prepared with all my heart. So I wanted to repay the love you have been giving me through this concert, but I didn't perform well enough because of my own physical condition, which really makes me feel very sorry!" he said.
Donghae admitted that his condition was the result of him not taking better care of his body.
"So I am very sad, heartbroken myself. I'm so sorry to have everyone worry so much and to bring tears to everyone's eyes. The journey must not be easy for us to come to the concert. It's really heartbreaking for everyone to give me such precious time and I let you down," he added.
He assured fans that he would undergo treatment in South Korea and return in better health.
"I will be well conditioned and will definitely come back to see you next time in the best condition," he said.
