A “salisi” duo was arrested after being caught on CCTV stealing around P100,000 worth of cash and valuables from a parked vehicle in Sta. Mesa, police said.
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Alvin Beltran Ebuenga and his uncle, were tracked down after footage showed their distraction-style modus.
Investigators said the pair struck while the victims were loading items into their car.
Among the items taken were cash, mobile phones, and identification cards, with total losses reaching about P100,000.
Police said Ebuenga is no first-time offender.
Now 29, police said he will face charges as an adult.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said the arrest highlights the role of CCTV in tracking down “salisi” groups targeting distracted motorists, especially in busy areas like Sta. Mesa.
Authorities urged the public to secure their vehicles at all times, warning that thieves often strike within seconds when doors are left unattended.
