TACLOBAN CITY – Abuyog, Leyte Mayor Lemuel Gin Traya confirmed that former Abuyog Vice Mayor James Bohol and his son were found dead in Barangay Imelda, Silago, Southern Leyte, on Tuesday, June 30, three days after they were reported missing on June 27.
“We are deeply saddened by the confirmation received from the Philippine National Police (PNP) regarding the tragic and senseless demise of former Abuyog Vice Mayor James Bohol and his son, Carlou James ‘Jimbo’ Bohol,” he said.
The local government unit of Abuyog condemned their murder.
“Such profound lawlessness has no place in our society, as it directly violates the peace, order, and security that we uphold within our municipality,” Traya said.
“We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the immediate family, and to everyone who grieves this catastrophic loss. Our collective prayers, thoughts, and unwavering support are with the bereaved family during this unimaginably painful time,” he added.
Police have yet to issue a statement regarding the double murder.
Bohol, also a businessman, lost his bid for re-election in 2025.
Silago is a neighboring town of Abuyog and lies at the boundary of Leyte and Southern Leyte provinces.
