Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay reaffirmed the city government's commitment to preserving Makati's cultural heritage and long-standing traditions following the annual Rosas ng Sampiro Festival, which celebrates the city's faith and culture.

On June 27, the mayor joined residents and devotees in Barangay Poblacion in celebrating the festival in honor of the city's patroness, the Virgen dela Rosa de Macati.

She, together with Museum and Cultural Affairs Office Head and Concurrent Tourism Officer Bambi Mañosa-Tanjutco, Councilors Mayeth Casal-Uy, Dino Imperial, and Ferdie Eusebio, witnessed performances by 10 groups from various schools and barangays in Makati and interacted with festival-goers.

The participating groups performed at several locations in Barangay Poblacion, including Pertierra corner Osmeña Street, Museo ng Makati, Burgos Street, Plaza Cristo Rey, and Saints Peter and Paul Parish, allowing residents and visitors to watch the presentations throughout the community.

The groups showcased the city's history and devotion through vibrant street dances, colorful costumes, faith-inspired choreography, and musical presentations.

The festival also featured marching bands and a floral carpet, a symbolic offering expressing the community's faith, gratitude, and devotion to the Virgen dela Rosa de Macati.

Binay emphasized that the Rosas ng Sampiro Festival serves as a meaningful reminder of Makati's identity and shared history.

"The Rosas ng Sampiro Festival is a celebration of who we are as Makati residents. It brings together our faith, our culture, and our people while honoring the traditions that have shaped our city through generations,” she said.

“As we continue to move Makati forward, we will also continue to preserve the heritage that unites us as one community," she vowed.

The local government said the annual festival promotes cultural appreciation and community participation while showcasing the city's traditions to residents and visitors.
