Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 said he is confident that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla will not cave in to the pressure stemming from the Iglesia ni Cristo's (INC) rallies in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
Despite the disruptions caused by Marcoleta’s supporters, the former national police chief said he is optimistic that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be able to maintain peace and order in the metro.
“Ombudsman Boying is tough as a Caviteño will always be. I trust that he won’t cave in to the INC rallies and pressure—not today, not tomorrow and certainly not when Sen Marcoleta’s plunder case is filed in court as earlier announced," Lacson said on X.

“His INC backers may block EDSA all they want and cause traffic jams and chaos to the discomfort of ordinary commuters. Surely, the PNP will be there to maintain peace and order,” he also said.
Lacson made the remark after some INC members staged on Tuesday a surprise rally along EDSA in Quezon City to protest the possible arrest of Marcoleta, a member of the religious sect known for their bloc voting policy during Philippine elections.
The case against Marcoleta involves P75-million in gifts or donations that he received in January 2025 when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
Several persons were reportedly arrested during the impromptu rally, as tension escalated between law enforcers and rallyists.
The INC confirmed that the EDSA rally was in support of Marcoleta, who claimed that the plunder charges to be filed against him is to keep him from participating in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
Earlier Lacson called out Marcoleta for gaslighting, particularly after he cited his previous remarks that nine (9) more senators could be arrested and jailed.
But Lacson stressed that his reference to nine senators being possibly jailed was a “hypothetical statement in the context of determining the base number to compute the constitutional requirement of 2/3 vote of all senators actively participating or not in the impeachment trial.”
