Double barricades mounted at Mendiola as INC rally continues
Manila police set up double barricades at Recto Avenue and Mendiola and are on maximum tolerance as the INC rally continues at Liwasang Bonifacio on Tuesday.
Manila police have set up double barricades along Recto Avenue and Mendiola and are enforcing maximum tolerance as the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally continues at Liwasang Bonifacio today, June 30.
A heavy police presence has been deployed at Mendiola, a key access point to Malacañang Palace, in anticipation of possible movement of rally participants toward the area.
Authorities said the security setup is part of standard protocol to secure routes leading to the Palace, including nearby roads such as Legarda Street and Recto Avenue.
The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that the situation remains under control, emphasizing that officers are observing maximum tolerance in handling the gathering.
As of posting, the rally remains centered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Ermita and has been described as peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported.
The gathering, which began early in the morning, has drawn hundreds of participants and caused traffic congestion in parts of Manila, particularly along P. Burgos Avenue and surrounding roads.
Police said they are prepared to deploy additional personnel if necessary as they continue to monitor developments.
Authorities remain on alert for any changes as the program progresses.
