Company collector robbed in Las Piñas, suspect shot by guard

A motorcycle rider was shot and wounded by a security guard after he and his companion robbed a company collector in Las Piñas City on Monday, June 29.
Las Piñas Police Chief Col. Fermin Armendarez identified the victim as “Bunny,” 39, a resident of Barangay North Daang Hari, Taguig City. He sustained a head injury during the robbery and was taken to Las Piñas District Hospital for treatment.
The arrested suspect was identified as Erwin, 32, of Barangay Nangka, General Trias, Cavite. He suffered a gunshot wound during the incident and was also brought to the same hospital.
Police said Erwin’s accomplice, who was wearing a white-and-red jacket, escaped on their motorcycle and is now the subject of a manhunt.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. along C-5 Extension in Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was on his way to remit his company’s cash collections when the suspects blocked his path and declared a holdup.
Authorities reported that a security guard who witnessed the robbery intervened after seeing the victim struck on the head. The guard shot one of the suspects, preventing his escape.
The wounded suspect was immediately apprehended, while his accomplice fled on the motorcycle.
Recovered from the arrested suspect was a .38-caliber revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
Police said robbery charges and violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) have been filed against the arrested suspect, while operations continue to locate his accomplice.
