Caloocan dismantles Paranaque; Pasay, Cebu topple foes

Pacesetter Caloocan Batang Kankaloo flaunted its deep bench in a 127-91 thumping of Paranaque on Monday, June 29, in the SportsPlus MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 2026 Season at the Paco Arena in Manila.
All 15 Batang Kankaloo, headed by Rommel Calahat, scored 3 points or more as Caloocan led by as far as 116 and climbed to 14-1 in the round-robin elimination phase of the two-division, 27-team tournament.
Calahat posted 16 points and 4 rebounds to clinch the SportsPlus best player honors over Kean Baclaan, with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Other major contributors for Caloocan, which tows Abra (12-1) and San Juan (10-1) in the North division, were Eric Camson with 13 points and 5 rebounds, and homegrown Joseph Manlangit, with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Paranaque, which skidded to 1-16, drew 24 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists from Jomar Santos, 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists from Marlon Monte, 12 points and 3 assists from Jobert Medina, 11 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds from James Mangahas, and 10 points plus 8 rebounds from John Michael Cruz.
Cebu thwarts Quezon City
The Cebu Greats repelled the Quezon City Black Bulls' repeated rallies to prevail, 74-61, in the nightcap and climb to 12-3, overtaking Binan Tatak Gel, 11-3, for the third spot in the South division being lorded by Gensan (13-2) and Batangas (11-2).
Mark Meneses again paced Cebu with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists, followed by Alvin Baetiong, with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Kint Ariar, with 10 points and 3 rebounds.
Trailing, 56-66, following a triple by Cebu's CJ Payawal, Quezon City moved to within 61-68 when Joshua Roque converted two charities with 3 minutes and 26 seconds left.
The Black Bulls couldn't score after that, however, while the Greats came through with six charities for the final count that pulled Quezon City down to a 6-8 slate.
Quezon City tumbled to 6-8 despite Val Chauca's 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Jake Agoncillo's 13 points and 6 rebounds, and Kobe Monje's 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Pasay trips Ilagan Isabela
The Pasay Voyagers returned to course with a 75-68 victory over the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys in the opener.
Christian Fajarito and Steve Nash Enriquez joined forces in the fourth quarter to thwart the Cowboys' final assault and put the Voyagers back on track after getting derailed by Binan Tatak Gel, 77-74, last Friday.
The back-to-form Fajarito came through with a two-handed slam and a runaway drive to pad the Voyagers' lead to 72-61, while Enriquez secured their ninth win in 16 starts with a triple, 1 minute and 14 seconds left.
Enriquez posted 16 points, highlighted by a perfect 2 of 2 triple, and 8 assists to capture best player honors over Fajarito, who wound up with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Rence Alcoriza also delivered with 12 points, including six straight that propelled Pasay to a 42-25 spread, 3 steals and 2 rebounds; homegrown Brian Hilario with 9 points and 5 rebounds, and Edmund Dela Cruz with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
The Cowboys fell to 9-6 despite Celiz's 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, Art Dela Cruz's 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Alex Cabagnot's 14 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds.
The tournament returns to the Ynares Sports Arena on Tuesday, with games between Bulacan and Rizal at 4 p.m., San Juan and Bataan at 6 p.m., and Quezon Province and host Pasig at 8 p.m.
