CEBU CITY – A 14-year-old boy drowned while swimming on a river in Tuburan, Cebu on Sunday afternoon, June 28.
Investigation conducted by the police showed that the victim, Randz Raphael Abuan Dalaguite, and another 14-year-old boy swam in the river called “Hidden Paradise.”
One of the popular spots in the river is a large rock formation where a swimmer can enter from one end and exit towards the opposite side.
While frolicking in the water, the victim decided to dive under the rock formation.
His companion became worried when he did not resurface. He dived and saw him trapped under the rock. He recovered the victim and brought him to the riverbank.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the boy who was taken to the Tuburan District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the victim sustained scratches on the forehead and body that he may have sustained while trying to extricate himself from the rock.
