MPD rolls out one-tap emergency alert app for 'Balik-Eskwela 2026'
Police have stepped up campus security in Ermita and Tondo by launching a one-tap emergency alert system and intensifying patrols under “Oplan Ligtas Eskwela."
The Manila Police District (MPD) – Police Station 5 (Ermita) installed a “One Push Button” emergency app in schools, allowing administrators to alert nearby officers during emergencies for faster response.
PS-5 personnel, led by station commander Lt. Col. June Paolo O. Abrazado, also conducted school visits to assess security conditions and strengthen coordination with school officials.
Authorities said the app connects directly to assigned beat patrol units, cutting response time and improving coordination during incidents.
The initiative is part of a citywide campaign to keep schools safe and deter crime in surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in Tondo, Police Station 1 intensified visibility and law enforcement operations over the weekend, including checkpoints and “Oplan Galugad,” to prevent criminal activity.
The operations were carried out under the supervision of Lt. Col. Ronald De Leon and station officials, in line with directives from MPD director Brig. Gen. Arnold C. Santiago.
Police said the heightened presence aims to maintain order and ensure public safety, particularly in busy communities.
The MPD said it will continue to expand security measures in coordination with the Philippine National Police and the Manila local government.
