Family of 4 'massacred' in Zamboanga del Sur

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A woman and her three children were murdered in their home within the Interfaith Academy Foundation Inc. compound in Barangay Litapan, Josefina municipality, Zamboanga del Sur province on Monday, June 29.
Police identified the victims as Arlene Fernan Dumaltte, 42, and her children Nashyl, 16; En-en, 14; and Arnel, 11.
Barangay Kagawad Alejo Indangan was passing by the house on the way to his farm at around 6:45 a.m. when he noticed a woman’s arm protruding from a hole in the wall.
Indangan discovered bloodstains and foul odor from the house and called the Josefina Municipal Police Station. Initial investigation showed that the victims were stabbed to death.
Police said the suspect might have gained entry through the hole. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
