ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Darul Ifta of Western Mindanao has called on authorities to conduct a fair and thorough investigation on the murder of a religious leader here on Saturday, June 27.
Police identified the fatality as Mehdie Totoh, 34, the president of a Madrasa Nuuril Hidayah Ul Muslimat, a religious school.
Investigation said the victim and his companion, 15-year-old Kimal Misa, were riding a motorcycle on the MCLL Highway when the suspects on a motorcycle appeared and shot them.
Totoh died on the spot while Musa was taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a farmer was shot dead in Barangay Ayala here.
Police said Alan Abdulla was suddenly fired at by a still unknown gunman.
Abdulla tried to escape but he was chased by the suspect who continued firing. He sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Follow-up investigations on both incidents are ongoing.
