CATANAUAN, Quezon – A marine engineering student helped revived two children who drowned in a beach resort here on Saturday, June 27.
Police said the victims were swept away from the shore while chasing a floating bottle due to strong waves.
Volunteers rescued the victims and taken to shore and Von Untalan, a marine engineering student, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victims until they regained breathing and consciousness.
The victims were taken to a hospital and their parents thanked people who saved them from drowning.
Authorities reminded people to exercise caution while swimming in especially during inclement weather.
They also reminded people to learn CPR to save lives in case of emergencies.
