Traffic scheme set for 'White Ribbon Movement' rally in QC
By Trixee Rosel
The Quezon City government will implement traffic adjustments and temporary road closures near the EDSA People Power Monument on Sunday, June 28, due to the 'White Ribbon Movement' rally.
The traffic scheme aims to manage the expected increase in vehicles and maintain the orderly movement of motorists in areas affected by the gathering.
Motorists may experience slower traffic along EDSA, Katipunan Avenue, Ortigas Avenue, White Plains Avenue, and Temple Drive from 12 noon to 6 p.m. during the activity.
A zipper lane will be implemented along White Plains Avenue between EDSA and Katipunan Avenue from 6 a.m. to 12 noon as part of the preparations.
Authorities will also temporarily close White Plains Avenue from Katipunan Avenue to EDSA on the Camp Aguinaldo side while the activity is ongoing.
The Quezon City Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Task Force Disiplina, Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will coordinate to manage traffic and ensure public safety.
QCPD director PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio said police personnel, together with other Philippine National Police (PNP) units and partner agencies, will be deployed to secure rally participants, motorists, residents, and the public.
The QCPD said it continues to coordinate with concerned government agencies, local government units, and event organizers to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the gathering.
The deployment is part of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) under the PNP Focused Agenda and supported by the NCRPO’s Triple A Program, which promotes police readiness, visibility, and community partnership.
Motorists were advised to take alternate routes and plan their trips ahead of time to avoid possible delays.
