Grade 8 student stabbed by 15-year-old schoolmate in Silang
CAVITE – A 17-year-old student was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by a 15-year-old schoolmate following an altercation in Silang on Friday, June 26.
A report from the Cavite Police Provincial Office (Cavite PPO) said the victim and the child in conflict with the law (CICL), both Grade 8 male students at the Emilia Ambalada Poblete Integrated High School (EAPIHS), were involved in a heated argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.
“During the altercation, the victim allegedly punched the suspect several times. The suspect retaliated and drew a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim once in the lower abdomen,” the report said.
Cavite PPO told the Manila Bulletin that the incident happened outside the campus, near the wet market.
The victim was rushed by the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team of Barangay Poblacion IV to the Silang Specialist Medical Center for treatment.
The CICL was taken into custody and surrendered the bladed weapon used in the incident.
Authorities said he will be turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and that a criminal complaint is being prepared for filing with the Office of the Prosecutor.
On Saturday, June 27, the EAPIHS expresses its deep concern over the incident that happened after class hours.
The office said the school is coordinating with the authorities and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
DepEd Cavite also urged the public not to spread unverified information and to respect the privacy of the learners and their families during the investigation.
