Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara visited Parañaque National High School-Main on Friday, June 26, to assure the community of support and safety amid a controversy involving a teacher’s alleged misconduct that went viral online.
Angara was welcomed by Parañaque City officials led by Mayor Edwin Olivarez, together with officials from the Department of Education–Parañaque Schools Division.
During the visit, the education chief inspected the school’s security measures and emphasized that safeguards are in place to protect the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel.
The inspection followed the recent fatal school shooting in Tacloban City, which has prompted schools nationwide to review and strengthen their security protocols.
Angara also met with teachers, parents, and students alongside Mayor Olivarez to hear their concerns regarding the issues confronting the school.
He assured the community that the Department of Education remains committed to addressing these concerns while ensuring that students continue learning in a safe, secure, and supportive environment.
The visit was part of the department’s broader efforts to reinforce campus security and maintain close coordination with local government units and school stakeholders amid ongoing challenges affecting the school community.
