Wardrobe.NYC brings its minimalist luxury vision to H&M
By John Legaspi
Year after year, global fashion brand H&M gifts shoppers with major drops in collaboration with legendary fashion houses and designers. Not only do these collections offer fashion enthusiasts access to coveted designer aesthetics, but they also create cultural moments that generate excitement far beyond the runway. This year is no exception.
Recently, the Swedish fashion brand announced its latest collaboration with New York-based luxury essentials label Wardrobe.NYC. Established in 2017, the brand was founded by designer Josh Goot and Christine Centenera, an Australian fashion editor and stylist of Filipino-Spanish ancestry. The label has become known for its minimalist and timeless designs, echoing its "buy less, buy better" philosophy.

Wardrobe.NYC believes in the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe, where pieces are designed to mix and match across years rather than seasons. That is the concept the brand brings to its collaboration with H&M.
The collection translates the duo’s defining vision, distilling a pioneering decade into a single, definitive wardrobe—directional and effortlessly wearable in equal measure.
“We wanted to create a capsule for H&M that was true to the wardrobe concept: a timeless and honest statement that was both essential and of the moment,” Josh says. “This approach comes from our personal philosophy of dress. It has always been a vital part of Wardrobe.NYC, and you can feel it in the H&M collaboration.”
Impeccably cut tailoring in a timeless palette—that pretty much sums up the collaboration. The designs draw from the Wardrobe.NYC archives, featuring wool coats, blazers, and tailored skirts. Everyday pieces such as washed denim, bombers, hoodies, and fluid drawstring pants are cropped, padded, and layered to create unique silhouettes, lending a sophisticated ease to more casual items.
“What we wanted, above all, was for all these pieces to become staples,” Christine muses. “You're building the base of a wardrobe and mixing it with things you already own, as well as with pieces from the collection itself. That versatility was always the goal.”
“The way every shape is so well considered, you can really feel how it will be to wear one of these garments just by looking at it,” Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s creative advisor and head of womenswear design, adds. “These are pieces that will be in your wardrobe for a long time.”
The Wardrobe.NYC x H&M collection will launch at the brand’s Ayala Greenbelt store in Makati City and online at hm.com on Aug. 6, 2026.
