SkyFlakes maker bets ₱5 billion on new Central Luzon mega-factory
Monde MY San Corp. (MMYSC), a subsidiary of food and beverage giant Monde Nissin Corp., is spending more than ₱5 billion to build a new manufacturing facility for its iconic SkyFlakes brand.
In a statement, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said it signed a registration agreement with MMYSC on June 23 for its new manufacturing project in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Located at the TECO Industrial Park–Special Economic Zone (TIP-SEZ), the company’s new facility will manufacture its flagship SkyFlakes brand and sandwich products.
Based on the company’s timeline, PEZA said the new factory is set to begin commercial operations in 2027.
“The project is expected to generate direct jobs, contribute to domestic manufacturing output, and further strengthen the food manufacturing value chain in Central Luzon,” the agency said.
Through its registration with PEZA, MMYSC’s new facility will be eligible to receive benefits from the government, including fiscal and non-fiscal incentives.
For PEZA, the investment from the company reflects the growing appeal of ecozones as an investment hub for local and foreign companies seeking to expand their operations.
“The registration reflects PEZA’s continuing efforts to attract quality investments, create meaningful employment opportunities, and foster sustainable industrial development beyond Metro Manila,” the agency said.
To further position ecozones as prime investment destinations in the country, PEZA has been working to make each site energy-resilient, helping meet the power needs of locators.
PEZA most recently signed a renewable energy contract with IP Ventures Management Ltd. (IPVML) for the development of a solar energy facility in the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ).
The agreement covers the development of an embedded microgrid solar power facility, with a planned capacity of 31 megawatt-peak (MWp).
This is expected to help provide a more reliable power supply for locator companies with high energy needs, while contributing to lower energy costs and greener industrial operations.
“We want our ecozones to stay competitive, but we also want growth to be responsible, and expanding renewable energy helps us support our locators, improve energy security, and do our part for the environment," said PEZA director general Tereso Panga.
