Senior citizen freshly discharged from hospital killed by speeding motorcycle

BACOLOD CITY – A 63-year-old woman was killed and her 73-year-old husband was injured after they were hit by a speeding motorcycle in front of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here on Thursday, June 25.
Police identified the victim as Rosita of Barangay Pasil, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
Police Major Elmer Bonilla, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), said Rosita and husband Genaro were crossing the street from the hospital when they were hit at 3:41 a.m. The woman hit her head on the ground and died on the spot.
Rosita had just been discharged from the hospital when she died.
Bonilla said the motorcycle was driven by 24-year-old Zyrll of Barangay 9 here with John, 32, of Barangay 12, this city, as back rider.
They were reportedly intoxicated and injured and taken to the hospital along with Genaro.
Bonilla said the family of the motorcycle driver pledged to assist the couple’s family.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
