The Quezon City government has supported calls for a thorough investigation into the fire that struck a condominium in Eastwood City on June 18, which affected tenants, unit owners, and their families.
Local officials said the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and the property management office of Olympic Heights Tower 3 are conducting a joint investigation, while the Department of Building Official (DBO) will carry out a separate inspection of the building.
Authorities reported that immediate responders -- including the BFP, Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), City Health Department, Social Services Development Department (SSDD), and Traffic and Transportation Management Department (TTMD) -- provided assistance to affected residents.
Investigators are examining whether fire alarm and sprinkler systems functioned properly and if evacuation procedures and emergency protocols were correctly implemented during the incident.
They will also determine whether regular fire drills were conducted and if the condominium management observed proper maintenance of fire safety systems.
According to authorities monitoring the situation, some residents remain confined in intensive care units (ICUs) following the incident.
The city government said the probe aims to identify possible safety gaps and determine the assistance needed by affected residents.
Findings are also expected to help strengthen fire safety compliance among developers, administrators, property managers, and residents to prevent similar incidents in the future.
