The Junior Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (JPIChE) successfully gathered student leaders from across the archipelago for the JPIChE Leadership Summit (JPIChELS) 2026, a three-day national convention held at the historic Baguio Teacher’s Camp from June 13 to 15, 2026.
Following previous iterations in Cebu (2024) and Davao (2025), the 2026 summit centered on the theme “ALAB: Igniting Chemical Engineering Leadership Through Years of Excellence.”
“The theme of this year's summit is rooted in the belief that leadership becomes most meaningful when it is driven by purpose,” said Christie Amaryllis Neis, National chairperson of JPIChE. “If they return to their respective chapters more motivated, more self-aware, and more intentional in how they lead and serve others, then we would consider the summit to have achieved its goal."
The summit brought together over 50 delegates through a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person participants and virtual attendees via Zoom. To facilitate the event, lodging for face-to-face attendees was provided at the nearby Brenthill Condo.
Onsite attendees participated in localized face-to-face components, including an evening fellowship, team-building activities, and dedicated reflection sessions. Meanwhile, virtual delegates engaged synchronously in key lectures and participated in workshops, including the sharing of best practices in a world cafe setup, as well as leadership workshops led by the guest speakers.
“JPIChELS 2026 was a culmination of the combined strength and capacity of the ChE student-leaders in the country,” said Ashley Formentera, one of the summit’s participants.
JPIChE Leadership Summit (JPIChELS) 2026 is a three-day national convention held at Baguio Teacher’s Camp from June 13 to 15, 2026.
“It made me realize that scrutinizing current leadership practices is crucial not for competition but for a collaborative effort to streamline and optimize the way student bodies are led. Overall, it ignited (hence, alab) change for the good in the ChE student-leaders community,” Ashley added.
The event concluded with an open-platform to share feedback regarding the improvement of JPIChE’s services towards the Philippine community.
