A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck waters off Davao Occidental on Friday evening, June 26, with the strongest reported shaking at Intensity V in parts of Sarangani province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In the Earthquake Information No. 1, Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 7:34 p.m., at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Its epicenter was located about 90 kilometers southwest of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tremor was felt at Intensity V (strong) in Kiamba, Sarangani, and Intensity IV (moderately strong) in Don Marcelino and Santa Maria, Davao Occidental.
Intensity III (weak) shaking was also reported in Davao City and Matanao in Davao del Sur.
Intensity II (slightly felt) was experienced in Digos City, Davao del Sur, and the municipalities of Monkayo, Mawab, and Maragusan in Davao de Oro.
Based on instrumental monitoring, Intensity V was also recorded in Malapatan, Sarangani, and T'boli, South Cotabato.
Instrumental Intensity IV was measured in Malungon, Maitum, Kiamba, and Maasim in Sarangani, as well as Tupi and Koronadal City in South Cotabato.
Instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Santa Maria, Davao Occidental; Tampakan, South Cotabato; and Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
Instrumental Intensity II was measured in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Norala, Banga, Santo Niño, and Surallah in South Cotabato; and Lebak, Isulan, Kalamansig, and President Quirino in Sultan Kudarat.
Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Magpet, M'lang, and President Roxas in Cotabato, as well as Columbio and Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat.
