A group stage a peaceful rally outside the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) in Ortigas, Pasig City on Thursday, June 25, calling for a sustained implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, Amana-BARMM lead convenor Abu Mujahid Maulana Mamutuk said the group believes that under the CAB and BOL, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is intended to lead the Bangsamoro government, a provision he said is not being fully observed.
The group said sustaining peace requires adherence to the provisions of the law and the agreement.
“Dapat ma-sustain 'yung peace, sundin 'yung batas, sundin 'yung agreement (Peace must be sustained, and the law and the agreement must be followed),” the lead convenor said.
The rally ended shortly after the group met with OPAPRU secretary.
The group said OPAPRU would respect the outcome of the Sept. 14 BARMM parliamentary elections and continue working with whoever is elected in advancing the peace process.
Mamutok added that OPAPRU is currently working to help ensure the implementation of the CAB for MILF returnees (former MILF rebels), with the aim of delivering the assistance promised to them by the government.
