A major drug supply chain was disrupted after authorities seized over P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu in a pre-dawn buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on June 24.
A 36-year-old alleged drug pusher was arrested during an anti-drug operation conducted by Manila Police District's Meisic Police Station (PS-11).
The suspect, identified only as alias “Lans,” is a native of Lanao del Norte and a resident of Putatan, Muntinlupa.
Recovered from his possession were approximately one kilogram and five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P6,834,000.
Police said the volume of illegal drugs indicates it was intended for wider distribution, potentially supplying multiple areas in Manila.
The buy-bust operation was carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) under Lt. Meynard U. Vargas under the supervision of station commander Lt. Col. Cicero M. Pura.
Authorities also confiscated marked money and boodle money used in the operation.
MPD chief Brig. Gen. Arnold C. Santiago said the operation is part of the intensified efforts to dismantle not just street-level pushing but also upstream supply networks.
Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the seized drugs and identify other individuals involved in the distribution chain.
The suspect is currently detained at PS-11 and will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
