Police have intensified security operations in schools across southern Metro Manila by increasing visibility and strengthening coordination with school authorities, following the recent shooting incident involving students in Tacloban City.
Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco said police personnel have been strategically deployed in key areas and school zones to maintain peace and order, deter criminal activities, and ensure a safe environment for students, teachers, and school personnel.
He said officers remain on heightened alert and continue conducting regular patrols in and around school premises.
In addition to increased police presence, various SPD police stations have conducted school visitations and dialogue sessions with school administrators to enhance security coordination and address concerns arising from the Tacloban incident.
During the meetings, police and school officials discussed measures to reinforce campus safety, prevent potential threats, and improve emergency response mechanisms.
The discussions also underscored the importance of close collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies in maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
Cinco said the initiative is part of the SPD's continuing commitment to building safer communities where residents can study, work, and conduct their daily activities without fear of crime or violence.
