Septuagenarian shot dead in Ilocos Sur

SANTO DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur — A 70-year-old woman was gunned down before noon on Wednesday, June 24, in Barangay Puerta Real, this town.
Police said the victim was a married resident of Barangay Pussuac here.
Investigation said was standing on a road shoulder when two men on a motorcycle passed by.
The suspects stopped several meters away from the victim and the back rider disembarked, approached, and shot her once in the head.
The suspects fled and the victim was taken to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital (ISDH) in nearby Magsingal where she was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities recovered a spent shell casing from a caliber .45 pistol in the area.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
