Several roads in Manila were temporarily closed on Wednesday, June 24, to give way to the city’s 455th founding anniversary civic program at the Quirino Grandstand.
Traffic authorities implemented closures starting at 12 noon ahead of the 4 p.m. event.
South Drive from Roxas Boulevard to Independence Road was closed to regular vehicular traffic, while Katigbak Drive was restricted to authorized vehicles only.
Designated parking areas were also assigned for attendees.
Additional parking was made available along one lane of Roxas Boulevard service road, T.M. Kalaw Avenue, Maria Orosa Street, and Bonifacio Drive, providing space for hundreds of vehicles.
Motorists were advised to take alternate routes and follow traffic advisories as authorities managed the expected influx of participants for the Manila Day celebration.
