Misamis Occidental police sacks gun-toting cop, probe underway
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office (MOCPPO) relieved a police officer on Wednesday, pending an investigation after footage of him pointing a gun at a civilian circulated online.
In a statement, Police Col. Reynaldo Maclang, MOCPPO chief, said the police officer, identified as Police Corporal Henry Boquida, was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and has already been disarmed and placed under restrictive custody at the Police Provincial Office.
"The ongoing investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and appropriate administrative and criminal charges will be filed," he said.
The erring police officer, assigned to the Sapang Dalaga Municipal Police Station, was seen in the video handling a firearm and pointing it at a civilian with who he had an argument at a neighborhood sundry store.
The incident took place in Barangay Antipolo, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte on June 21.
The National Police Commission also condemned the incident. (PNA)
