Marine shoots wife dead in Zamboanga City barracks

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A Marine fatally shot his wife, a fellow Marine, inside the Marine Base Arturo Asuncion here on Tuesday, June 23, during a marital dispute.
Police identified the victim as Staff Sgt. Julie Ann Arsaga Santillan, assigned as liaison officer of the Field Artillery Battalion.
Investigation said that the victim was gunned down by Staff Sgt. Dante Nunal Santillan, from the 18th Marine Company in Zambales using his service firearm, a Glock 9mm, during an argument over finances.
Dante then shot himself thrice – twice in the body and once in the head.
Julie was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. Dante was also taken a hospital where he died on Wednesday morning, June 24.
Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation.
