BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental has encouraged parents and guardians to take an active role in matters that may impact their children’s safety, welfare, and overall well-being.
The DepEd aired the appeal after a Grade 9 student was allegedly stabbed and injured by his Grade 10 schoolmate outside Julio Ledesma National High School in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, due to grudges from a dispute between rival teenage groups.
DepEd-San Carlos acknowledged the incident involving two students aged 17 and coordinated with the school administration for the appropriate steps to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of the injured learner and the entire school community.
They are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the matter as part of the ongoing investigation and closely monitoring the situation.
“We remain committed to ensuring that due process is observed while prioritizing the protection and welfare of the learner,” DepEd-San Carlos stated.
They urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with their children and provide guidance and support.
The school has imposed enhanced security measures and strengthened coordination mechanisms following the incident.
