CEBU CITY – Gov. Pamela Baricuatro expressed support for Rajiv Enad, the mayor of Minglanilla, Cebu, who was indicted for graft by the Office of the Ombudsman.
“You have my support Mayor,” Baricuatro said, reacting on a news item about the charges that Enad is facing.
Baricuatro described Rajiv as “one of the best performing mayor(s) in Cebu province.”
“Padayon lang (just continue) and keep your head up,” the governor added.
The Office of the Ombudsman recently announced that it will file graft charges against Enad, Vice Mayor Lani Peña, and some councilors after they did not approve the rehabilitation plan of Jomara, a company that allegedly built a goat farm in Barangay Guindarohan, Minglanilla.
Enad said there was nothing illegal about the decision to not endorse the plan.
He explained they only protected the lives of residents affected by ground cracks and damaged houses due to alleged illegal quarry operation inside the farm.
According to the local government, Jomara also owns a landfill whose presence was opposed by residents and officials.
