The Asian Development Tour (ADT) has praised the successful staging of the BingoPlus Philippine ADT Open held recently at the Luisita Golf and Country Club in Tarlac City, highlighting its wider significance for emerging golfers in the region.
ADT General Manager Ken Kudo acknowledged title sponsor BingoPlus, crediting its support as a major factor in staging this $100,000 event and expanding opportunities for players across the region.
“A big, warm thank you from the Asian Development Tour,” he said.
“The support that we receive from BingoPlus by creating this tournament for the prize purse of $100,000 here in the Philippines goes a long way for the livelihood of the players, but also for them to be able to chase their dreams,” Kudo added.
He also said that the tournament’s status as a qualifier to a larger stage further elevates its importance, giving both ADT regulars and local hopefuls a pathway to higher-level competition.
Italian Michele Ortolani ended a 10-year title drought and claimed the crown with a 16-under-par 272, while Sean Ramos and Clyde Mondilla clinched the two automatic berths allocated to the top two Filipino finishers for the International Series Philippines set later this year, finishing five and eight strokes off the pace, respectively.
Ramos and Mondilla joined three-time Asian Tour champion Angelo Que, who emerged as the second-best Filipino performer with a 278, but had already secured an exemption into the International Series Philippines.
A total of 15 Filipinos made the cut, including two amateurs.
“It gives local talents, whether amateurs or professionals, a fighting chance to play in an event that’s arguably the biggest in the region -- the International Series,” Kudo said.
Kudo also expressed optimism about the Philippines remaining a key destination for future ADT events, citing strong hospitality and quality venues as major advantages.
“We’re always speaking to potential prospects,” he said. “From the ADT standpoint, we’re absolutely keen to come back to the Philippines. The hospitality that we receive here is second to none, and the quality of the golf courses is also great.”
While no new events have been confirmed, Kudo made it clear that the Tour is actively exploring expansion opportunities in the country.
“It’s a little bit early to confirm anything at this stage, but we’d absolutely love to have more tournaments in the future,” he said.
