Col. Julius Añonuevo, chief of the Taguig police, inspected personnel deployed to schools in the city following the June 22 mass shooting in Tacloban.
The inspection was part of intensified security measures aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school staff.
Añonuevo checked the deployment and performance of police personnel and monitored the implementation of safety protocols within and around school premises.
He directed officers to closely monitor areas adjacent to schools where groups of individuals, particularly out-of-school youth and bystanders, tend to gather at night.
Police also engaged with those loitering near schools, reminding them to observe public order.
Special attention was given to motorcycles producing excessive noise while parked or congregating near school grounds.
The heightened security comes after three students were killed and several others wounded in the mass shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban. Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
In response, the Tacloban City Government announced strict enforcement of a curfew for minors from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The curfew will apply citywide, with minors prohibited from entering the Sangyawan Grounds unless accompanied by parents or legal guardians.
