BACOLOD CITY – A 19-year-old criminology student was stabbed to death by his drunken neighbor in Hacienda New Casal-agan, Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Monday, June 22.
Police Capt. Darryl Kuhutan, Pontevedra town police chief, identified the victim as Charm.
Kuhutan said that the 43-year-old suspect Arthur arrived home drunk and went berserk while armed with a kitchen knife.
The suspect’s 53-year-old brother-in-law Agustin attempted to calm him down but the suspect attacked and stabbed him in his forearm.
The victim intervened to pacify the commotion but he was also attacked and stabbed by the suspect in the armpit. He died on the spot.
The suspect fled and was arrested in Barangay Canroma, Pontevedra.
Kuhutan said that it was the first time that the suspect was violent while intoxicated. Homicide charges were filed against the suspect on Tuesday, June 23.
