A fire broke out in NIA Village, Area 5A, Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City, on Tuesday morning, June 23, reaching third alarm before being brought under control and declared out.
The blaze quickly spread through the community, sending thick smoke over the area and prompting an immediate response from authorities.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire was raised to first alarm at 10:42 a.m., escalated to second alarm at 10:52 a.m., and further increased to third alarm at 11:43 a.m. as firefighters worked to contain the flames.
Firefighting operations continued until the fire was placed under control at 12:38 p.m. and declared out at 12:57 p.m., with at least 12 fire trucks deployed to the scene.
Authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage and verifying possible casualties, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Response operations were supported by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO), which assisted in coordination, monitoring, and possible evacuation efforts.
The NIA Covered Court was identified as a possible evacuation site for affected residents.
Various local agencies, including the Quezon City Fire District (QCFD), Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Barangay Sauyo, and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), worked together to ensure public safety and order during the incident.
