Evan, formerly known as Heeseung of the K-pop group ENHYPEN, has officially launched his solo career with the release of his digital single “Ride or Die,” marking his first project under his new stage name.
The two-track release positions Evan as a central creative force in his debut, with the artist taking an active role in songwriting, composition, production, and overall visual direction. The project highlights a more personal artistic direction as he steps away from group activities to establish his individual identity.
In comments published via Weverse Magazine, Evan described his approach to music-making as deeply visual and emotionally driven, saying he often imagines himself on stage while creating songs and feels compelled to bring those visions to life. He added that “Ride or Die” was written with his emotions guiding the process, noting that while the track can be interpreted as a universal love song, it also carries personal meaning tied to his fans.
The title track, “Ride or Die,” is an alternative rock record that explores themes of longing, emotional intensity, and attachment. It is paired with the B-side “Overflow,” which contrasts the lead single through a softer, indie-pop arrangement with a more relaxed, easy-listening tone.
A music video accompanying “Ride or Die” expands on the single’s themes, using symbolic imagery centered on a weathered car that remains a constant presence beside Evan, representing steadfast loyalty and emotional endurance.
Reflecting on his solo debut, Evan said he is grateful for the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his career. He expressed a desire to continue creating music that resonates emotionally with listeners and to further define the artistic direction he hopes to pursue.
“I want to continue working hard and think deeply about what kind of music and messages can move people and resonate with fans,” he said. “I hope listeners can get a glimpse of the kind of artist I want to be.”
Evan departed ENHYPEN prior to his solo debut and has since reintroduced himself under his new stage name as he embarks on his independent music career.
