EPD boosts media ties for accurate public information
The Eastern Police District (EPD) strengthened its partnership with the media through a meet-and-greet on Monday, June 22, aimed at promoting accurate public information and recognizing journalists’ vital role.
The activity was facilitated by EPD District Public Information Office (DPIO) chief Capt. Resel E. Guevarra and led by EPD acting district director Brig. Gen. Melecio M. Buslig Jr., together with members of the EPD Command Group, District Quad Staff, and DPIO personnel.
Representatives and media practitioners from various news organizations attended the event, which aimed to boost coordination between the PNP and the media and promote the timely dissemination of accurate information.
In his message, Buslig emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the police and the media through open communication and continuous coordination.
"The media is one of our strongest partners in promoting transparency and public trust. Together, we can ensure that accurate information reaches the people and support our collective efforts in maintaining peace, order, and public safety,” he said
“We must maintain open communication and 24/7 coordination between EPD and the media to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information," the chief added.
During the activity, media representatives raised questions about the district’s plans, programs, and initiatives related to public safety, security, peace and order, and crime prevention.
The EPD's OPLAN S.H.I.E.L.D. was also introduced during the event, which is a strategic policing program that promotes proactive, responsive, and effective modern policing.
The program is scheduled to be launched in the coming days as part of EPD’s intensified efforts to further strengthen public safety, security, and crime prevention initiatives throughout Metro East.
“Through strengthened collaboration between the EPD and the media, the initiative aims to enhance public trust, encourage community participation, and contribute to a safer, more informed, and empowered Filipino nation,” the EPD stated.
