Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez on Tuesday ordered intensified security measures in the city to prevent school-related violence similar to Cavite and Tacloban City.
Fernandez met Councilor Joey Tamayo and the Dagupan City Police Office (DCPO) led by Police Col. Arnold Solomon to discuss intensified security strategies to keep communities safe and ensure the protection of students in Dagupan.
Fernandez said Dagupan cannot afford to ignore these threats and must act early to prevent similar violence from happening in the city.
She underscored that protecting children remains a top priority of the city government.
Solomon said they have intensified police visibility and security measures in and around schools in the city.
He said police personnel have been strategically deployed to conduct regular patrols, increase presence at school premises, and provide immediate assistance.
Solomon said this initiatives aims to create a secure environment where students can focus on their education without fear.
He added that heightened police presence is designed to give parents peace of mind and assurance their children are well-protected while at school.
The DCPO continues to coordinate closely with school administrators, teachers, and personnel to ensure the sustained and effective implementation of security protocols.
