Armed man hurt in clash with cop; cohort escapes in Bacoor

CAVITE – An armed man was wounded while his companion escaped during an encounter with a police officer in Bacoor City on Tuesday, June 23.

A report from the Cavite Police Provincial Office (Cavite PPO) stated that a member of the Bacoor Component City Police Station (Bacoor CCPS) was on his way home when he noticed two men on a motorcycle waiting by the roadside.

When the police officer attempted to approach them, the suspects allegedly drew their firearms and opened fire, prompting the officer to retaliate.

One suspect sustained a gunshot wound, while the other managed to flee.

During questioning, the wounded suspect admitted that he and his accomplice had been waiting for a potential victim to rob.

Confiscated from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver and ammunition.

Authorities also recovered a motorcycle without a license plate, a steel knuckle, and two fired cartridge cases from a caliber 9mm gun at the scene.

Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation against the suspect at large, while the wounded suspect is being treated at the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital.
